  • Christmas Carol Service - Thursday 21st December

    Thu 21 Dec 2017 J. Langley
We had a lovely Christmas Carol Service in St Thomas’s Church. Each class presented a song or poem, the choir sang and the recorder group performed. Bible readings were beautifully read by our Collective Worship Team. Reverend Joan and children from all classes led our prayers. We were also pleased to present our Reverse Advent Boxes to Reverend Sarah who will take them to PAFRAS.

  • St Thomas’s Crib Service

    Mon 18 Dec 2017 J. Langley

On Sunday 17th December the School Choir attended the Crib Service where they sang carols as part of the DIY Nativity, which was beautifully told and acted by the Sunday School children (and a few volunteers!). It was a lovely opportunity for children from school to be involved in such a special church event. Thank you to Mrs Holloway for inviting us, and to all the children and parents who supported this event.

  • Aladdin

    Fri 15 Dec 2017 J. Langley
All of the children in school enjoyed the pantomime performance of ‘Aladdin’ from the West End Theatre Group. It was Epic! (as Aladdin would say). Thank you for the contributions towards the cost of this special show.
  • Lights, Camel, Action!

    Thu 14 Dec 2017 J. Langley

This week the children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have performed their fantastic nativity play “Lights, Camel, Action!”. It was a lovely play which followed the Strictly Come Dancing idea where each part of the nativity story was told through dances and songs. The children in all year groups performed brilliantly, but special congratulations must go the Year 1 and 2 children who told the story, played the part of the judges and voice over, and were excellent actors and readers. The audiences thoroughly enjoyed the show and we raised £105.18 for Save the Children and school learning resources – thank you. Thank you also to the staff members for all of their hard work preparing the show.

  • Parish Praise

    Sun 10 Dec 2017 J. Langley

On Sunday 10th December the School Choir sang at Parish Praise, in The Church of the Ascension, in Whixley. We were very pleased that so many of the choir members managed to attend and they sang Little Donkey, Starry Night and Mary’s Child beautifully. Thank you to Barry who led a lovely service and to all the families for coming and providing cakes for the refreshments after the service.

  • Christmas Fair

    Fri 08 Dec 2017 J. Langley

On Friday 8th December the Friends of Green Hammerton organised a Secret Santa event for the children where they chose gifts for members of their family. The atmosphere in the hall was lovely as the children decided which gifts to choose, and then wrote labels for them.

Then during the afternoon the school was transformed ready for our Christmas Fair. The school looked lovely and there were lots of activities for families to choose from including games, crafts, vising Santa in his Grotto, tombola, raffles and delicious refreshments. The choir sang to entertain everyone and we were delighted with how busy the fair was.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make such an enjoyable day for everyone in school.
