  • Crocus Planting at St Thomas's

    On Wednesday 25th October Mr Martin Simpson, one of our Governors arranged for the children to all plant crocus bulls in the Church garden. The project is part of the Rotary Club project to support the End Polio Now Campaign by planting purple crocuses. Mr Simpson also spoke to the children in assembly about the appeal. The School Council are working on a fundraising idea to support this project later in the year. Thank you to Mr Simpson for organising this lovely activity for us which supports such an important project.

  • Cerebral Palsy Day

    We held a non uniform day to support World Cerebral Palsy Day and we raised £72.00. The money donated will be given to a charity which supports one of our children. Thank you for all of the donations. 

  • Number Fun Day

    Mr Godfrey led a brilliant Numberfun Day. We began with a worship focusing on talents and this included a video of children in a school in a different community from ours. Each class then had a maths session based on the Numberfun songs. We are now looking forward to including the songs in our maths lessons. 

  • Harvest Celebrations

    We had a lovely Harvest Festival Service in St Thomas’s Church. Each class presented a Harvest song or poem and the choir also performed. We brought food donations for PAFRAS which were received by Rev’d Sarah and we also included a Global theme in the service by supporting Farm Africa and wearing our wellies to the service. Thank you for all of the donations, we raised £84.67 for Farm Africa. Thank you also to Ainsty Farm Shop who donated the beautiful Harvest Sheaf.

    Well done also to the school choir sang harvest songs at Cafe Church on Sunday 7th October in Whixley Village Hall.

  • Year 6 Leaver’s Service

    We held our Year 6 Leaver’s and end of year celebration in St Thomas’s Church on Wednesday 18th July. The service was led by the Year 6 children and featured presentations from the Collective Worship team, each class and the choir. Lots of families joined us for the service which celebrated the children’s time at the school and reflected positivity towards the future. The service ended with everyone singing ‘A Million Dreams’ from The Greatest Showman.

  • Multicultural Dance Day

    On Tuesday 17th July we had a multicultural dance day where each class had an hour long workshop focusing on Bollywood Dance. At the end of the day each class performed their amazing dances to the rest of the school. 

  • Treasure Island

    Thu 12 Jul 2018 J. Langley

    This week the Key Stage 2 children have performed their production of Treasure Island. The play has been brilliant with children acting, singing, dancing and telling the story beautifully. It has been lovely to see some of our children taking starring roles and we have been amazed by their solo singing! Well done to the Key Stage 2 team and thank you all the families who came to watch and provide the wonderful costumes.

  • Gardening

    On Wednesday 4th July we had a visit from Amy Lax, who is a gardener who lives in the village. She talked to the children in assembly about gardening and why it is so important to her. Amy brought a walnut tree which had grown from a nut planted by a squirrel to show the children. We hope to keep in touch with Amy and have asked her to support our gardening club.

  • Ripon Cathedral Year 6 Service

    Our Year 6 children, Mrs Law and Miss Langley attended the Diocese service for Year 6 leavers in Ripon Cathedral on Tuesday 3rd July. The theme of the service was ‘Shine your light’ and included a talk, hymns and a lovely candle lit prayer.

  • Sports Day

    On Wednesday 27th June we held our Sports Day. We were fortunate to have a cooler start to the day followed by sunshine. All children took part in running, beanbag on head, egg and spoon and obstacle races. There was even a toddler race! Thank you to FOGHS who provided lovely refreshments for everyone.

    In the afternoon children worked in their house teams and tried four activities, archery, nerf throwing, netball targets and den building. The den building activity was part of Save the Children Den Day and we will send a donation to the charity. Thank you to Mrs Law and Mrs Taylor for organising a super day.

    The winning house team for the whole day was Ash – well done!”
