On Sunday 9th December the FOGHS held our Christmas Fair. The school looked lovely and there were lots of activities for families to choose from including games, crafts, vising Santa in his Grotto, tombola, raffles and delicious refreshments. The choir sang to entertain everyone and we were delighted with how busy the fair was.
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make such enjoyable events for everyone.Christian Aid Carol Service
On Friday 9th December the school choir sang at the Christian Aid Carol Service in Selby Abbey. This was a lovely event that we were privileged to have been invited to. The children sang three carols and took part in a candle lit version of Silent Night. Well done to all the choir members who worked so hard to prepare for this performance. The Friends of Green Hammerton organised a Secret Santa event for the children on Friday 7th December where they chose gifts for members of their family. The atmosphere in the hall was lovely as the children decided which gifts to choose, and then wrote labels for them.
We enjoyed wearing bright clothes today to celebrate the end of ‘Switch Off Fortnight’. Well done to the Eco Council for organising this and leading a worship about saving energy.
On Wednesday 28th November we had our Advent Afternoon. The children worked in their house teams and completed advent activities in each classroom which included Advent hat’s, calendars, wreaths and candles. In the hall we made advent hand print wreaths and also wrote kindness messages on our pebbles. The pebbles will then be hidden in the community for people to find. We ended our afternoon with a Collective Worship led by Rev’d Sarah and attended by our Foundation Governor, Mr Simpson. The children showed some of the things that they had made which all included the Advent Christian Values of joy, hope, peace and love.
Thank you for all of your donations during our Children in Need event where children dressed in spotty clothes and enjoyed a bun sale. We raised £165.40. This is the amazing Pudsey that the children made with Mrs Taylor in Forest Schools!
