On Thursday 14th February Guy Wilson, who is organising the Monkey Boy project came to talk to us about Nepal. In March we will host a visit from 20 Nepalese children who are performing with our choir in the Monkey Boy concert. On Tuesday 12th February, children in Years 1 to 6 visited the new York Mosque as part of our RE work on Islam. Imam Abid Salik led the talk and taught us about the mosque, acts of worship, artefacts and the Islamic religion. The children asked questions and contributed to discussions very well: demonstrating respect, understanding and appreciation of other faiths in our locality.
Our theme for this half term is Global Neighbours. We welcomed Michael and Rowena from Christian Aid to our Collective Worship on Monday 29th January 2019 to talk to us about the Global Neighbours Scheme and how we can be Global Transformers. They talked about water and how people in some countries have access to clean drinking water, but people in countries such as Sudan and Kenya may not. Questions for our reflection times are how can we challenge this and how can we be ambassadors for change?
