Green Hammerton CofE Primary is a small village primary school in a two-school federation. We have an amazing team who are dedicated and supportive across the schools.
The role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and adaptable School Cook to work in our kitchen and provide high-quality, nutritious meals for pupils and staff. You will join a small, committed federation catering structure and play an important part in daily school life. You will also become a member of the wider support staff team including covering some wraparound care sessions.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and prepare varied, nutritious meals that meet government school food standards and the needs of our pupils.
- Produce food in a timely, appetising and hygienic way for the snack and lunch services and other agreed events.
- Cater for special dietary requirements and allergies; ensure clear labelling and record-keeping.
- Manage food stocks and ordering to control waste and keep within budget.
- Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and safety; follow the school’s food safety and health & safety policies.
- Supervise kitchen/dining routines and work closely with lunchtime supervisors to ensure a calm, positive dining environment.
- Keep accurate records (temperature checks, stock, allergen information, accident/incident logs).
- Work cooperatively across the federation to ensure consistency of provision as required.
- Attend training and staff meetings as required.
- Additional responsibilities will include wrap around care - we are looking for someone that will become part of the support staff and support with wraparound care.
Person specification — essential
- Experience of planning and preparing meals in a busy setting (school catering experience desirable).
- Knowledge of food hygiene and allergen management; Food Hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Good organisational skills, stock control and the ability to work to budgets.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, child-centred approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- A commitment to the school’s Christian vision and values.
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
Desirable
- Experience of working in a school or with children.
- Basic awareness of current government school food standards.
- First aid training (or willingness to undertake).

Linton on Ouse Primary & Nursery is a small, warm village school of three classes and a member of the Small Schools Federation. We aim to create a safe and happy environment where pupils and adults can flourish. The role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, reflective and enthusiastic class teacher to join us as a 0.2 FTE job-share, working Fridays in our mixed Nursery and Reception class. This is an excellent role for someone who wants a focused weekly day in early years practice within a supportive small-school setting. There would also be the expectation to engage with staff training and certain training days plus some staff meetings.
Key responsibilities
- Lead teaching and learning for the Nursery & Reception cohort on Fridays, using our agreed curriculum and pedagogy.
- Plan and deliver high-quality, well-sequenced learning that supports early language, phonics, communication and personal development.
- Assess pupils’ progress and contribute to the ongoing formative assessment and record-keeping systems.
- Work collaboratively with the job-share partner and EYFS team to ensure continuity between days and across the federation.
- Promote the school’s vision and values in classroom practice and relationships.
- Contribute to safeguarding, welfare and pastoral support as required; maintain high standards of behaviour and wellbeing.
- Attend required meetings and professional development (some meetings may be scheduled outside Fridays — reasonable notice will be provided and time in lieu considered).

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

- Ability to plan for mixed-age groups and differentiate effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a collaborative team player.
- Reflective practitioner committed to professional development.
- Commitment to the school’s inclusive practice for disadvantaged and SEND pupils.
Desirable
- Experience working in a small rural school or federated setting.
- Experience of or willingness to lead an area of the EYFS curriculum (e.g., communication and language, early maths or outdoor learning).
- Understanding of the current Ofsted framework and early years expectations.
