Squirrel Class

Welcome to Squirrel Class!

Squirrel Class Staff Team

Squirrel class is a mix of Nursery and Reception pupils aged 3-5.  We work very closely together to achieve the best outcomes for each and every child, supporting them in all areas of their development in preparation for Key Stage One and beyond.

Homework

Phonics homework is sent out weekly and the children are given new reading books each Friday to take home and read with an adult.

Reading

Here at Green Hammerton Primary we want to encourage a love of reading and strive to ensure that every child can read independently and confidently by the end of Reception. Children are expected to read 5 times a week with an adult at home. Our Reading Rainforest reading reward scheme encourages the children to read as much as they can to receive a their badges, certificates and book marks.

Maths

All children in Reception have a Numbots password and are encouraged to practise their number fluency at home.

NumBots is all about every child achieving the "triple win" of understanding, recall and fluency in mental addition and subtraction so that they move from counting to calculating.

Children will be awarded with certificates in assembly when they reach a new stage of the NumBots... there are 20 to work through!

Please watch the video below for more information on how Numbots can support your child's mathematical development at home.
